Retraining and redeploying workforce could potentially save them jobs, and allow company to keep talents during economically challenging times. Flexibility and adaptation to changing technology or circumstances seems to be the key.

  • Most participants decided for conducting layoffs because of fear of recession, or they put new projects on hold so some employees don’t have work for some time

  • Most participants felt negative about conducting layoffs as it impacts their reputation, restricts development, reduces experienced workforce, etc.

  • Most participants didn’t believe they can avoid layoffs as they felt they didn’t have a choice

  • Most participants have not considered other strategies for cutting costs on salaries (e.g. reducing benefits, reducing working hours, work sharing, etc.) to avoid redundancies

  • Most participants have not considered redeploying employees (moving employee from one role to another) to avoid redundancies

  • Most participants have not re-assesed their talents before made them redundant

The product should act in their best interest to keep their workforce strong and adaptable in order to maintain a healthy business.
